There is good richness and a lovely minerality to the velvety and naturally sweet, fresh and energetic medium full flavors that are supple, classy, balanced and beautifully persistent. For my taste this has just arrived at its prime drinking window though it should remain here for at least another decade. A first rate example. Tasted half-a-dozen time since its release with mostly consistent notes.

This elegant effort is coming along very nicely and it has reached a stage that could certainly be enjoyed now but for my taste I would allow this another 4 to 6 years first in order to develop a bit more depth as well as broadening the finale.

A highly expressive, indeed even explosive nose offers up wonderfully pure spice and menthol-infused black cherry fruit aromas that complement elegant, sexy and beautifully refined medium-weight flavors that are underpinned by velvet wrapped tannins and stunning persistence. Though this is not what I would call a dense wine, it has a finish that lasts for minutes and exudes energy and vibrancy plus the impeccable balance should permit the '99 Musigny to drink well for a long, long time. A terrific wine that clearly is still on its way up so assuming that you have well-stored bottles, there should be no concern about missing the prime drinking window. All of that said, this could be enjoyed now with 30 minutes or so of air and the right food. I have multiple, and consistent, notes.

To my taste this has now arrived at its peak drinkability though it should hold there for the better part of another decade. In sum, this is pretty and really quite good in the context of a challenging vintage. Tasted several times recently with mostly consistent results though a few examples seem just a bit warm and merit scores in the 89 to 90 point range.

There is a wonderfully seductive, even lush texture to the sweet, pure and refined full-bodied flavors that are harmonious and deep, with a driving tension that forces everything into striking relief yet the palate impression is pure velvet on the immensely long finish. This gorgeous and built-to-age effort is an overtly powerful yet not especially weighty wine where about the only nit on the sappy finish is a touch of warmth. This is one of the few '05s that could be enjoyed now though for my taste I wouldn't even consider opening one for at least another 5 years and 8 to 10 would be better.
