As it always is, this is a big and powerful wine yet with a bit more elegance than usual. Terrific and potentially the class of the range in 2006.

The concentrated, powerful and muscular broad-shouldered flavors ooze with an abundance of dry extract that actually causes the very firm tannins to appear more civilized than they really are. Despite the reserve of the nose the austere finish is explosive and the length is excellent.

As it always is, this is brimming with buckets of old vine sap. A wine of finesse.

There is excellent richness to the cool and equally pure medium-bodied flavors that possess excellent focus on the explosively long finish. The tannins are dense but quite fine and this offers outstanding upside development potential.

A wine that should mature well over the medium term.

Outstanding Tasting note: Like the Pruliers this is very reserved, indeed it required plenty of swirling to coax the otherwise pretty, layered and remarkably complex nose of underbrush, earth, spice hints, floral nuances plus both red and blue pinot fruit. There is a distinctly earthy and entirely serious character to the refined flavors that are at once supple yet concentrated, all wrapped in balanced, overtly powerful and jaw-dropping persistent finish. Most impressive.

The attractively textured and very rich flavors are supple, round and supported by relatively fine tannins and plenty of mouth coating dry extract. I like the balance and overall sense of harmony of this seductively textured example though it's worth noting that some might find this to be just a little too ripe as there are hints of mocha on the finish.

There is fine richness and excellent mid-palate ripeness and concentration to the medium-bodied flavors that culminate in a long, complex and quite serious finish. This is a Vosne/Nuits hybrid as the Vosne influence is clear on the nose but the structure and robustness is distinctly Nuits.
