Note that in contrast to the Alouettes, the reduction is quite minor and a brief decanting should be sufficient.

By contrast, the vibrant and powerful big-bodied flavors are wonderfully fresh and culminate in a robust and well-muscled finish that avoids any rusticity because of the huge amounts of dry extract on the palate saturating finale. I really like the sense of perfect balance plus the combination of a textured and velvety mouth feel juxtaposed against the precision and tension of the flavors and finish. In a word, terrific (but lots of patience required).

The equally pure, detailed and again stony medium weight flavors are lacy and indeed almost delicate yet there is beautiful flavor authority. I particularly like the sense of energy along with the fine delineation and balance. A lovely villages.

There is good intensity and detail to the opulently textured medium weight plus flavors that are blessed with a seemingly endless reserve of sap on the gorgeously long finish. This is a really impressive effort and if the palate complexity can eventually match that of the nose, this should be able to achieve, or perhaps even exceed, the upper end of my predicted range.

The abundant sap confers a very suave character to the balanced and equally long finish and the overall impression is a powerful yet focused wine of harmony and grace. I especially like the interplay of tannin, acidity and fruit and this should be capable of aging for several decades yet, with sufficient air, be approachable young if desired. Tasting note: In stark contrast to the expressiveness of the Clos St. Denis, this is almost mute and even aggressive swirling liberates only the briefest glimpses of wild red berries and earth notes. There is superb size and weight to the imposing and overtly muscular flavors that also enjoy an incredible amount of dry extract that confers a supple and seductively textured mouth feel to the highly concentrated mid-palate. The presently buried tannins are intense and markedly firm though not hard on the explosively long finish that seems to go on and on. This should be something very special if given sufficient time to reach its apogee.
