Even after 5 years the nose remains restrained but exceptionally elegant and pure with aromas of white flower, green apple, pear and wet stone. There is plenty of minerality to the rich, full and highly energetic flavors that tighten up considerably on the detailed, minerally and moderately dry finish that displays distinct citrus and mineral nuances. This is still quite tight and linear with huge amounts of dry extract that renders the very firm acid spine almost invisible at present though the long finish is clearly shaped by it. This magnificent Chevalier is now knocking on the door of its full maturity though I stress that there is no rush to drink up as this should hold well for years. Tasted many times with consistent results with those bottles that are not premoxed but I have had five bottles opened in March and April 2019, and another in May 2022, that were.

This is also still on the way up though a wine that could be enjoyed now if desired.

This should reward at least a decade in the cellar and drink well for a similar period thereafter. There is a wonderfully silky texture that adds interest to the tautly muscled and powerful big-bodied flavors that explode on the palate staining and notably dry finish. This is seriously impressive but like the 2012 version it's finer than it usually is.

There is outstanding intensity to the beautifully well-detailed medium-bodied flavors that possess excellent drive while culminating in a bone dry and lingering finish where the only nit is a trace of warmth. This is a relatively powerful BBM that could be enjoyed now but I would suggest holding this for another few years first. In a word, terrific.

There is impressive density to the round and relatively powerful medium-bodied flavors that coat the palate with dry extract before culminating in a delicious and sneaky long finish. For my taste this is drinking perfectly well now though I underscore that it should continue to drink well for years to come.

This seems to have more "presence" than usual and while it's not an elegant wine, it's quite satisfying all the same.

Overall this is really quite pretty and about the only nit is the presence of the barest hint of finishing bitterness that my score assumes will dissipate with a few years of bottle age.

This isn't especially complex at present though my range offers the benefit of the doubt that more depth will develop with time in bottle.

From a note taken in July 2011: A touch of reduction cannot completely hide the Intense honeysuckle fruit framed in touch of spicy oak that precede the elegant and pure full-bodied, slightly sweet and beautifully detailed flavors of citrus and apricots all wrapped in a surprisingly strong mineral framework. This is not especially dense but it is impeccably balanced with impressive length and a fine, almost delicate acid structure. There is real elegance here and a certain very appealing nervosit? - moreover, this remains quite fresh and youthful and while for my taste it has reached its peak, there is no rush to drink up, indeed it should be quite enjoyable over the next decade. Tasted many times with largely consistent experiences. Note that two more bottles tasted in July 2016 were both premoxed and in my view undrinkable.

There is fine volume to the rich, full, ripe and generous medium-bodied flavors that possess a silky mouth feel due to the impressive amount of dry extract present, all wrapped in a long, sappy and utterly classy finish. This is really lovely and while there is a bit more of the exotic character than I really prefer there can be no question that the overall quality is excellent. Note that for my taste and in the larger format that I would advise continuing to hold this for a few more years first though in 750 ml format it is largely ready to go.
