While this is, as I note, still moderately firm, it's not hard or particularly austere so if given 30+ minutes of air, it could easily be enjoyed now. With that said, I would be inclined to hold this beauty for another 3 to 5 years. Tasted multiple times over the years with consistent results.

The palate impression is that of a big, muscular, robust and powerful wine that is impressively concentrated and impressively long with a mouth coating and chewy but not hard or drying finish. I like the complexity and while this is still on the younger side, with air it could be enjoyed now. Tasted thrice since release with similar notes save for a bottle tasted in March 2019 (shipped directly from the domaine) that displayed brett-like elements.

There is a rigorous element here that suggests this will require the better part of 15 years to be at its best but when it gets there, this is going to be a thrill ride. Readers know that I am not given to undue hyperbole but I love this style of wine as it's at once pure, understated, graceful and utterly composed.

This is a big '07 built on a base of firm minerality but it remains impeccably well balanced and should live for decades so patience is definitely a virtue if you are a potential buyer.

Tasting note: This is also quite reserved at present with an elegant, airy, cool and pure nose that is kaleidoscopically complex as it offers red currant, plum, black cherry and a panoply of floral and spice notes, in particular violet and anise, before marrying seamlessly into mineral-driven and alluring big-bodied flavors that explode on the powerful and almost painfully intense finish that delivers genuinely stunning length. I love the way Musigny can so effortlessly combine a silky palate impression with serious muscle. This should be quite impressive in time though note that it will need a minimum of 18 to 25 years of cellar time.

As was the case from cask, I could still taste this several hours later and if given sufficient cellar time, this should be a very fine vintage for this storied wine.
