This is a classic Petits Monts as the mouth feel is restrained, indeed almost linear, and the finish is austere and minimalist. To be sure, this is packed with potential but it's clearly going to require some 12 to 15 years of bottle age before the natural opulence of Vosne is visible.

There is perfect phenolic ripeness of the supporting structural elements and while the delectably precise finish is overtly austere at present, everything is in place to potentially have a Clos de B?ze of greatness though it is worth underscoring that plenty of time will be needed to witness the transformation.

There is superb richness to the broad-shouldered, concentrated and very serious flavors that brim with dry extract before terminating in a powerful, complex and stunningly persistent finish that displays only moderate austerity. This is a big and very firmly structured wine yet it carries its heft with perfect balance. Note though that plenty of patience will be required.

There isn't the refinement of the Les Cailles or Les St. Georges but for fans of power Burgundy, this delivers.

There is presently a trace of dryness on the finish though I suspect that this is more due to the significant amount of gas present than under ripeness.

There is excellent balance and this should enjoy a very long maturity curve.
