This isn't quite as powerful as the Cazetiers but ultimately, there is just more here in the same fashion as there is more to the Cazetiers than any of the prior 1ers.

There is fine punch and excellent detail to the moderately dense medium weight flavors that possess fine persistence though perhaps not the depth that almost 15 years of cellaring would normally provide. When I originally reviewed the '08 Charmes, I noted that it would need to develop better depth and that remains the case. While this certainly could be enjoyed now, I would suggest holding it for another few years in the hopes that more complexity will develop.

There is superb intensity to the powerful, serious and mineral-inflected medium-bodied flavors that possess a taut muscularity on the austere, mouth coating and impressively persistent finish. This should be genuinely outstanding if given the substantial amount of cellar time necessary.

This is impressive and well balanced.

There is excellent volume with really lovely delineation as well as a real sense of underlying tension on the lightly mineral-inflected, dusty, sappy and superbly long finish. This beauty is very Gevrey but not rustic.
