The rich, pure and stylish medium weight plus flavors possess excellent volume but also wonderful detail and punch while culminating in an intensely mineral-driven finish of superb persistence. As impressive as this is, it hasn't quite developed the complexity that I thought it might when I first reviewed it. With that said, this is still very, very good and while it's knocking on the front door of its peak, it could easily be cellared for another 10 years. Tasted several times over the last two years with similar results.

I really like the poise and sense of harmony here and while it's too soon to know for sure, it's possible that this will one day catch the Chevalier as it's extremely impressive.

The rich, full-bodied, tight and wonderfully concentrated broad-shouldered flavors possess a silky and seductive texture as well as superb depth on the hugely long and intense finish. Montrachet is naturally a big wine but this is massive by any measure yet it remains, like the Chevalier, impeccably well-balanced.

Like the Perri?res, there are copious amounts of dry extract, which imparts a wonderfully seductive character to the textured and classy broad-shouldered flavors that possess excellent mid-palate fat on the opulent, refined, mouth coating and palate staining finish that is mildly austere as well as hugely long. This will require plenty of patience from those fortunate enough to acquire a few bottles but the good news is that it will live for years to come.

It's clear that this is much, much less evolved than the other wines in the range and I suspect that it will develop equally slowly in bottle too.

While there are any number of fine producers of Referts, Carillon is in my experience the reference standard and this wine only corroborates that conclusion. Brilliant.

Tasting note: This is presently sufficiently reduced that I would strongly recommend decanting it if you're tempted to try one young. Here the aromatic profile is distinctly different from any of the preceding grands crus as the primary fruit element is green rather than white or yellow though there are apple, pear and plenty of mineral notes in the background. The rich, powerful and focused big-bodied flavors exhibit almost painful intensity as there is a plethora of mouth coating extract that buffers the very firm tannic spine that allows all of this size and weight to remain exquisitely well-balanced. This is not quite as complex or persistent as the Montrachet but it's not far off and in any case, it does precisely what it's supposed to do which is to be an excellent example of Corton-Charlemagne, not Montrachet.

This classy effort is impressive and while it certainly should continue to age, for my taste it has largely arrived at its peak. Excellent.
