The rich, full-bodied and relatively powerful medium weight plus flavors possess a seductive and velvety mouth feel that carries over to the delicious, complex and solidly persistent finale. What surprised me though relative to my initial impression was a seemingly lack of mid-palate concentration and while this is by no means dilute, it certainly didn't appear to have the density that I had originally noted. I don't know if this bottle was representative but I was frankly a bit disappointed though I underscore that the wine is still attractive, just not brilliant.

There is fine richness to the solidly concentrated and unusually powerful, even muscular, larger-scaled flavors that exude a subtle minerality on the lingering if ever-so-mildly edgy and raspy finish. This showing is largely consistent with how examples from 750 ml format have shown. In sum, this possesses its attractive aspects though the balance isn't as well-dialed in as it could be. I would add that while this will live for years in large format, it's not clear that it will necessarily be more interesting with more bottle age than it is today.

The sappy, naturally sweet and concentrated medium-bodied flavors possess outstanding length and the extract creates a velvety mouth feel while buffering the still markedly firm tannins impart a touch of asperity on the mildly austere finish. This is certainly very pretty as it has both style and class though the mildly edgy finish mars the balance just enough to throw it off slightly. Note that another bottle tasted in November 2017 was badly reduced and not in a condition to be evaluated. My scores over the years have ranged between 92 and 93 points.

The intense, sappy and relatively powerful medium-bodied flavors exude a discreet minerality on the beautifully persistent and well-balanced finish. 2009 is a powerful yet refined vintage for this still youthfully firm effort that should continue to age effortlessly. I would add that in much the same fashion as the '09 Clos de la Roche (see herein), this could be enjoyed now though I would be inclined to continue to cellar it.

This is really lovely stuff, indeed it is textbook Clos St. Denis though one that is very clearly built-to-age and is going to need it.

There is a relatively refined mouth feel to the highly energetic, well-detailed and solidly mineral-driven medium weight plus flavors that possess a sleek muscularity on the superbly long and strikingly complex finale. This is one of those wines that even though it is still years away from its peak it is so well-balanced that it could easily be enjoyed now with 30 or so minutes in a carafe first. That said I would be inclined to allow this at least another 5 years of cellar time and 10 to 12 is like to be closer to the optimum. Tasted several times with consistent notes. In a word, brilliant.

While this could be enjoyed now it is very clearly still on the way up and I would recommend allowing it at least another 5 years or so first. In a word, excellent. Note that another bottled tasted in November 2017 was not as good as it was extremely tannic and somewhat drying. I rated that bottle: 92?

Score: 91/2028+. By contrast, a bottle tried in April 2016 was notably better and that note is: The airy, cool and relatively deeply pitched dark red berry fruit-suffused nose is cut with hints of stone, game and leather as well as a subtle but not invisible touch of wood. The detailed, robust and firmly muscular broad-shouldered flavors are still presently very backward, serious and superbly long on the mouth coating finish. The supporting tannins are quite prominent but the overall impression is a well-balanced effort that will require plenty of cellar time to realize its full, and considerable potential.

There is exceptionally good richness and volume to the concentrated and muscular large-scaled flavors that possess a velvety, even suave mouth feel before culminating in a very firmly structured yet well-balanced finale where the only reproach is a hint of warmth. This highly seductive effort is one of those wines that could be enjoyed now even though it is obviously still on the way up and will be for the better part of the next two decades. I would further note that this is more marked by the 2009 vintage than is the Clos St. Denis. Tasted twice in the last year with consistent results.

The taut and muscular broad-scaled and concentrated flavors are precise, intense and explosively long on the focused and stunningly persistent finish that is youthfully austere and breathtakingly intense. This faultlessly well-balanced but very firm effort will require extended cellaring. My sense is that it will be sufficiently civilized to enjoy by 2025 but it you wish to see this superb effort at its peak, more patience still will be necessary.

This is primary to the point of being quite backward yet it is not hard or aggressive as the balance of structural elements is impeccable and I particularly like the sense of tension, energy and backend lift that makes this already enjoyable to drink though it's nowhere near ready.

The big-bodied, textured and almost painfully intense mineral-driven flavors ooze with dry extract that buffers completely the extremely firm tannins and allows the brilliantly long finish to remain impeccably well-balanced. A wine of class and poise that delivers its power without weight. This doesn't quite have the sheer depth of the RSV or the Bonnes Mares though the underlying material is present to perhaps allow it to develop. We'll see in time but for now I prefer to remain conservative while noting the potential material is at least present.

This positively dazzling effort is not quite old school in basic character though it knocks on the door of it and like several of these grands crus, will need 15 to 20+ years to reach its full prime. A 'wow' and potentially one of the greatest vintages ever for the Dujac Bonnes Mares, which is saying something given this wine's superb track record.

The supple and quite generous medium-bodied flavors are rich to the point of being almost seductive, which contrasts somewhat with the moderate austere and complex finish that delivers very good if not excellent length. This is developing well, and I like the lovely balance.

This is a wine of finesse and class that should age well and if it can add depth over the next 8 to 10 years my score may ultimately prove to be too conservative.

The rich, velvety, pure and ultra-refined middle weight flavors possess an attractive mineral streak that helps add lift to the strikingly intense and extraordinarily long finish. Like the Bonnes Mares, this is an absolute knockout and I can't wait to see this once it arrives at its full maturity in 15 years or so. Buy it if you can find it!

There is good concentration and plenty of punch to the mineral-inflected flavors that culminate in a robust and overtly muscular finish. While this is a perfectly good wine with good volume and power, it isn't really a typical Chambolle.
