A mild trace of reduction greets you initially though with air it progressively lifts to reveal aromas that reflect some secondary character to the spicy dark berry, plum and sauvage hints. There is a fine sense of tension to the rich, minerally and reasonably well-detailed flavors that possess excellent if not dazzling complexity on the still still firm if lengthy finish. This is a wine where the evolution of the nose is slightly ahead of the structure even though it's not so much to significantly detract from the overall sense of harmony. I would suggest holding this for another 2 to perhaps 5 years first though I enjoyed the wine in its current state. I would note however that my storage is quite cold so other bottles may be a bit more advanced.

The intense, dense and full-bodied flavors brim with sappy dry extract before culminating in a stony, palate coating and driving finish that is serious, firm and beautifully persistent. This robust effort remains quite youthful, indeed it's going to require another 15 to 20 years before it fully matures. In a word, impressive.
