A mild trace of reduction greets you initially though with air it progressively lifts to reveal aromas that reflect some secondary character to the spicy dark berry, plum and sauvage hints. There is a fine sense of tension to the rich, minerally and reasonably well-detailed flavors that possess excellent if not dazzling complexity on the still still firm if lengthy finish. This is a wine where the evolution of the nose is slightly ahead of the structure even though it's not so much to significantly detract from the overall sense of harmony. I would suggest holding this for another 2 to perhaps 5 years first though I enjoyed the wine in its current state. I would note however that my storage is quite cold so other bottles may be a bit more advanced.

The caressing and rich but intense and tautly muscular flavors are blessed with an abundance of sappy dry extract that buffers the very firm acid spine shaping the impressively lingering finale. Excellent.

There is fine richness and depth to the wonderfully intense, detailed and mineral-dominated medium weight flavors that possess a dusty and mouth coating finish that delivers impressive length. This is a seriously complex and stylish effort and though quite restrained at present, it's not hard to see the excellent development potential. Lovely and about the only nit is a touch of backend warmth.

The delicious and mineral-inflected medium weight flavors display ample verve and good mid-palate density that mostly buffers the firm but well-integrated tannic spine, all wrapped in a gorgeously persistent and ever-so-mildly austere finish. This should be a classic Clos St. Jacques with 12 to 15 years of bottle age though have the advantage of being accessible after only 6 to 8 years, which is unusual for this wine.
