Tasting note: The color is just beginning to lighten at the rim. There is ample secondary influence to the spicy dried red berry scents that reflect additional notes of soft earth and a whiff of the sauvage. There is both excellent intensity and minerality to the beautifully well-detailed middle weight flavors that culminate in a linear, focused and sneaky long finish that is dusty and still a bit austere. This is unlikely to ever be a seductive wine as it's shaped and defined by its acidity but I very much like the depth on offer. For my taste, this has just now arrived at the front end of its prime drinking window though I underscore that it should hold here for at least another decade. Lovely.
