Tasting note: I have had a perplexing variety of experiences with this wine with swings from excellent to almost undrinkable. As to the bottle in the big CSJ tasting, there is evident secondary character to the leafy and herbal tea-suffused aromas of red currant, forest floor and spice, all of which is trimmed in very subtle oak nuances. The refined, delicious and vibrant middle weight flavors exude a fine bead of minerality on the slightly lean and drying finish. I would be inclined to drink this now with food. 89/now+.
Another bottle tried in 2016 was better balanced and more harmonious overall and merited a score of 92. Yet another bottle tasted in October 2017 was so reduced that it displayed mercaptans and to my taste was completely undrinkable.
