Tasting note: As it usually is, this is the most elegant of the Carillon 1ers with its seductive mix of citrus, floral, pear and orchard fruit aromas that appear to be closing down relatively hard at present while dissolving into rich, full and beautifully pure flavors of impressive concentration, intensity and understatement that deliver a powerfully mineral finish that is relatively austere for an '05. As this wine almost always is, it's the reference standard for the appellation.
